Your grade will be determined by the points earned from daily assignments, projects, quizzes, and tests.
Formative Assessments (daily assignments and quizzes) = approximately 25% of total grade
Summative Assessments (projects, tests and quizzes) = approximately 75% of total grade
Please check the ParentConnect tab, found on our AMS home page for updated grades. I am timely about keeping grades up to date, and usually never go past a week for written graded work to be entered into our system.
STUDENT EXPECTATIONS:
ü Be polite, respectful, and helpful to classmates and teachers. You will be asked to critique your peers’ work. It is important that every student feels “safe” to have someone else read their personal writings. Positive comments will be welcomed as well as constructive criticism.
ü Disruptive behavior affects the whole class and will not be tolerated. Tardies and other disruptive behaviors will be handled according to the school policies as described in the student handbook.
ü In the event of my absence from class, students are expected to treat the substitute teacher as a welcomed guest.
ü All work must have a name on it and be done in pencil or blue/black ink to receive credit.
ü All work should be turned in on the day that it is due to receive full credit. If a student is absent, it is his/her responsibility to get the make-up work and turn it in. Each student will receive two homework passes per trimester. They are only good for English class and for the student to whom they were issued. This allows one day late submission with no penalty.
Late work will be taken for no deduction if a student has one of the homework passes. Otherwise, 75% deduction for the first day late, and 50% for subsequent days.
ü Extra Credit is not a normal part of my class and will be given out on an infrequent basis. I do not give out E.C on request to students.
ü Students are expected to use the StudentConnect tab on our AMS home page to check grades. I will post grades confidentially on my bulletin board on a regular basis, but it is the student’s job to check the online website.
